Willie M. "Bill" Carrell Funeral services for Willie M. "Bill" Carrell, 86, of Zavalla were held Monday, January 28, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Reverend Jacob Fitzgerald officiating. Interment followed in the Broaddus Cemetery. Mr. Carrell was born April 16, 1921 in San Augustine County, Texas to Liddie (Evans) and Ernest Carrell, and died Saturday, January 26, 2008 in Nacogdoches. A former resident of La Porte, Mr. Carrell had resided in Zavalla for the past 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I and was a retired truck driver. Mr. Carrell was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Carryl Carrell of Zavalla, Barry arid Betty Burch of Zavalla, Jim and Beverly Godwin of Ratcliff and Tim and Vicki Godwin of Pasadena; daughter and sonin law, Rosemary and Gary Stafford of Hemphill; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Canton and Darlene Carrell and Joe and Laverne Carrell, all of Buna; sister and brother-in-law, Jessie and Fred Gloede of Broaddus; sister, Jimmy Smith of Dallas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Carrell; brothers, Cecil and Henry Carrell; and sister, Florine Bryan. Pallbearers were Bill Gloede, Jimmy Carrell, Cecil Carrell, Jr., Lynn Bryan, Dewayne Smith and Barry Burch. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Carrell's grandsons and nephews. The family extends special thanks to the employees and staff of Rockhaven Nursing Home in Nacogdoches, Texas. |
