Roughriders rattle Lumberjacks
By Russell Payne Sports Editor

After starting out the week with an impressive doubleovertime victory against the Rusk Eagles 80 - 77, unfortunately the Lumberjacks' good fortune came to an end when they lost 65 - 47 at home Friday to the Center Roughriders.

In the big double-overtime victory the Jacks were led by the play of J.J. Hayes and his 29 points.

The Diboll cagers were able to secure an overtime battle after a seesaw fourth period, when Jacolby Spencer nailed a big basket from behind the arch, tying things at 66 - 66.

After a close first OT period, the Jacks went into the second overtime and secured their second win in District 20 3-A action.

Friday night, the Lumberjacks returned home and faced off with the Roughriders in a hard fought ballgame.

Coach Brian Kruk's team was led by a 15-point effort from J.J. Hayes on the night.

The Jacks also received scoring help from Christian Lovelady with 12, Jacolby Spencer had seven, and Damion Baldwin, Cornelius Polk, Trey Loche and Carlos Palomo also helped in the Lumberjack cause.

The Lumberjacks will be at home Friday night when they take on Hudson.
