Guy Basey Funeral services for Guy Basey, 91, of Huntington were held Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway- Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Lamar Denby officiating. Interment followed in the Shofner Cemetery. Mr. Basey was born May 7, 1916 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Townie (Walker) and Ben Basey, and died Monday, February 10, 2008 in a local hospital. Mr. Basey served in the U.S. Army during World War II. His working years were in Louisiana where he retired from ExxonMobil Corp. He loved to hunt and fish. During his last years, Mr. Basey enjoyed his friends at the Senior Citizens Center where he played dominoes every day. He was a member of the Highway Baptist Church, which he loved very much. Survivors include his wife, Anne Belle Basey of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Guy, Jr. and Sherrie Basey of Woodland Park, Colorado; son, Tom Basey of Broussard, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Tim Broussard of New Iberia, Louisiana; daughter, Jeanette Brice of New Iberia, Louisiana; stepdaughter and husband, Peggy and John Taylor of Huntington; six grandchildren; half-brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Sammie Basey of Huntington; half-sisters, Fern Basey and Laverne Basey, both of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Pallbearers were the deacons of Highway Baptist Church: Lynn Denman, Delton Smith, Ty Willis, Gerald Conner, Keith Mixon, Mike Golden and Billy Wayne Phillips. |
