Lady Jacks win opening game
By Russell Payne Sports Editor

The season opener for the Diboll Lady Jack Softball team was a wet and messy one, but the ladies from Diboll took it to the Joaquin Lady Rams.

Monday nights contest was low scoring affair, with pitching highlighting the Lady Jacks night. Freshman Natalie Chagolla made a big impression in her first contest on the Varsity level.

Chagolla went the distance for Diboll, while pitching her first complete game shutout. The young pitcher saw 27 batters in the contest and flagged nine, while surrendering four walks, and only three hits.

The Lady Jacks scored the games only run when Hope Lakey knocked in Liz Castillo.

Lakey and Castillo both went one for three in the game, while Kayla Martel had two knocks for the Lady Jacks. The ladies also got some help from Jasmine Lewis and her big double.

All and all the ladies could have done more damage as they left six base runners stranded on the night.
