Jacks win big The Diboll Lumberjacks Soccer unit hit the fields last week and they gave the attendee's at Tuesday night's home game some thrills. The evening started off with the Hudson Hornets jumping out on top of the Lumberjacks early 1 - 0. That was not enough to get the Diboll squad down, and the Jacks battled back to take a onegoal lead with two goals over the next five minutes. That is when the game got hot and the Hornets roared back to knot everything up at two goals apiece. Then the Jacks came back to take the lead 3 - 2, of course this game had thrills and the Hudson unit came back to score again. With the game all tied up at 3 - 3 it would take some hard defense from the Jacks to hold off the Hornets, and some heroics to get the win. Heroics were just what Alex Castillo and Jose Jimenez had in mind. Castillo gave the Jacks a cross to Jimenez for the game-winning goal on the night. Jimenez had already scored twice before the late game heroics for what would be the hat trick. Also coming up huge for the Jacks were Miguel Calderon with the games other goal on the nigh for Diboll. Defensively, it was Juan Robles coming up huge for the Lumberjacks squad. Cesar Obregon also had a good evening for the Jacks. The winning unfortunately did not last all week long as the Lumberjacks hit the road Friday night to take on Palestine. For Head Coach Alejo Pacini it was certainly the opposite result of the Hudson game just a few nights earlier. The Lumberjacks went into Palestine and left in an 8 - 0 route by the Wildcats. The Jacks got some good play from both Juan Robles and Cesar Obregon on the night. Unfortunately it just was not enough to overcome the big deficit by Palestine. The Jacks play at home on Friday, Feb. 22 when they host Henderson. |
