Jubilee Church

This past week we have seen the price of gas go over $3 a gallon. That is making it really tough on many in our area. Some have to drive quite a distance to work and after returning home there is shopping, taking children to activities, attending City Council meetings, visiting friends or family in the hospital, church attendance, and mowing the yard. All this adds to the expense of fuel in the household budget. Couple this with the last downsizing at the fiber board plant and possibly other local industries, there are many that are starting to "scrape the bottom of the barrel" so to speak. So I remember a widow woman from the city of Zarephath. She was down to the last meal for her and her son when the prophet Elijah showed up and God had already commanded her to "sustain" him also. 1st Kings 17:9.

When she told Elijah that she was gathering enough sticks to make the very last of her meal into a cake for her and her son and then they would die, he told her to make him a little one first then make for her and the son because the Lord promised that her barrel would not waste neither would the cruse of oil fail until it began to rain again and crops were restored.

Her barrel of flour never ran dry but it never ran over either. Our lesson of faith is that no matter how hard times get, God will bless our faithfulness and obedience with just enough. We really don't need more than that. I have often wondered at how God stretches the provision He puts in our lives. We like so many others have at one time or another wondered where the next meal or the next tank of gas was coming from. My money sack has never been full but my barrel has never been empty either. There has always been just enough.

If you are wondering how to make it in the hard economic time we are facing right now remember this widow. Be faithful to Christ and He will bless that obedience. If you need a Church Home that is faithful to Christ and an encouragement to each other in hard times we invite you to worship with us.

Jubilee Baptist Church is located on FM 1818 right at the city limit sign. We are a country church with a heart for ministry. If you have some trouble of life that is so big only God can help you with it, we invite you to Jubilee & we will ask the Father in Heaven to give you an answer.

Sunday School is at 10 a.m. Worship is at 11 a.m. Mid-week worship is Wednesday at 7p.m. We welcome you.
