TRAFFIC STOPPED

Emergency personnel work to free a van driver trapped in his vehicle after the man fell asleep and rear-ended an 18-wheeler stopped for a red light at South Temple and Farm Road 1818 Monday afternoon. The van driver suffered a broken leg and various cuts and scrapes. The man, a Florida resident, was transported to Memorial Hospital and, according to Diboll Police Officer Rodney Cheshire, was in stable condition Tuesday morning. No one else was injured. Traffic in both directions on U.S, 59 was backed up after the incident. The van driver will not be ticketed, Cheshire said. "The broken leg is enough," he said.
