T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library moves briefly during renovations We are moving! Due to the renovation project the Library will be moving temporarily to a new location at 800 North Temple Dr. In order to accomplish this move the Library will be closed to the public from March 10 - 23. On March 24th we will reopen in our new location. We encourage our patrons to check out as many books as they can over the next two weeks to tide them over while we are closed. Remember there is no limit on the number of books that can be checked out and they will not be due back until we reopen. This will actually help us out so that we don't have to pack them up. Book donations are always needed at this Library and we really appreciate our patrons who help us out in this way. However at this time we will not be accepting donations of books until we reopen in our temporary location. Thank you for your generosity and understanding. The Family Expo and Health Fair sponsored by The Coalition and Memorial Health System of East Texas is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4 from 2 to 6 pm at the Lufkin Civic Center. The Expo is for parents, children and anyone who cares about children. There will be booths by all kinds of family oriented organizations, plenty of freebies, and live entertainment. This is a great event for the family to attend that is kid friendly and totally free of charge. Correction: Due to circumstances out of our control, the Library will not have a booth at the Family Expo this year. Teen Tech Week, March 2-8, is a national initiative aimed at teens, their parents, educators and other concerned adults. The purpose of the initiative is to encourage teens to use libraries non-print resources for education and recreation, and to help teens recognize that librarians are qualified, trusted professionals in the field of information technology. The event is usually held during the second week of March. (www.ala.org) This year's theme is Tune In @ Your Library and to celebrate we are holding a music survey for teens. These surveys will be distributed to the Diboll Jr. High and High School students. Teens will receive a coupon good for 15 extra minutes on the computer or one free print out, just for filling out the survey. Celebrate Teen Tech Week with your teen by using the computer to look up information, download a song on an mp3 player, or by playing a game with them using a Wii game system. Regular Programming: Tottime, our story time for ages 3- 5, that is held every Wednesday from 11:00-11:30 has been postponed until the Library renovation is finished. We are really sorry we have to stop this program, but we just won't have the room in our temporary home. Library closings: The library will be closed on March 10 - 23 in order to move the library to its new temporary location. Spring Schedule: Monday 9:00-7:00, Tuesday - Friday 9:00-5:30, and Saturday 10:00- 2:00. Have a great week! |
