Math, Science night a hit at Diboll Primary

Diboll Primary PreK teacher Staci Morgan helps kindergarten student Asia Collins and PreK student Samantha Bacon with the mixing colors activity at Math-Science Night at Diboll Primary School Feb. 5.
A very enthusiastic and eager crowd of students, parents, family members, administrators and teachers gathered at Diboll Primary School Tuesday, Feb. 5, for Math-Science Night.

The program began in the gym with music by the students. Three songs, all with connections to either math or science concepts, were enjoyed by everyone. Following the music, students and their families rotated among a series of math and/or science activities planned by Diboll Primary teachers.

Students enjoyed participating in math games such as Race to 100, Top It (greater than-less than), and Measuring with Cubes. The Science connection activities included Sink or Float, Mixing Colors, Discovering Microscopes and the Erupting Volcano. One of the most popular areas was Charlotte Henley's Zoo Room with the real, live snake from Ellen Trout Zoo!

Following the activities, refreshments were enjoyed by all and each family received a goody bag.

Principal Lisa Jeffrey, Vice Principal Laurie Burton, Science Consultant Lenette Shadow and all the teachers and staff at Diboll Primary thank the families of our students for their participation in the first ever

Math-Science night. Parent involvement is a must for all of us to achieve success with our students.
