Diboll Lady Jacks Softball in full swing
Monday night marked their 12th game of the short season when they hosted the Coldspring Lady Trojans at Lady Jack Field. The contest featured freshman sensation Natalie Chagolla in her eighth start of the young season. Coming into the contest Chagolla had posted a record of 5 - 1 for the Lady Jacks. The Lady Jacks were able to jump out to an early 2 - 0 lead in the second inning of play over Coldspring. There was also a controversial call at the plate that cost Diboll both a run and an out in the inning that would have been sure to allow for the Lady Jack to do more damage. In the third inning Coldspring did come out and do some damage against Chagolla and the Lady Jacks, taking a 3 - 2 lead over the hometown favorites. That would not hamper the Lady Jacks as they responded with some big time offense in the fourth and reclaim the lead by a run. The damage continued in the fifth as the Lady Jacks put up another three runs increasing their lead 7 - 3 over the Lady Trojans. The final score would have Diboll up by three and Chagolla snagged her sixth win of the year 7 - 4. The Lady Jacks had a big day at the plate over Coldspring. Led by Ashley Wilson and her perfect 3 for 3 the Lady Jacks were able to come up with the necessary run support to take the victory. Also coming up big for Diboll was Jasmine Lewis, Hope Lakey, Victoria Guajardo and Natalie DeJesus. Chagolla also sent seven batters back to the box swinging. The Lady Jack Junior Varsity squad met up ith Coldspring as well on Mondayafternoon in Diboll. The JV squad beat the Lady Trogans in an impressive 4 - 0 shutout. The JV squad was led by Tiana Garcia on the mound. Garcia received some excellent support fielding from Casey Carrell, Emily Ives, Jordan Wallace and Danielle Lakey. This Thursday the Lady Jack Varsity squad will be back in action at the Lady Jack Round Robin event. The Lady Jacks kick off their first game against Chester at 5:30, with a 7:00 p.m. match-up against Mt. Enterprise. Fridays competition will be at 7:00p.m. Friday when the Lady Jacks face the Corrigan Lady Bulldogs. Come out and support the Lady Jacks. Photo By Russell Payne |
