By Russell Payne Sports Editor

It is undeniable the Diboll Lady Jacks had an impressive season on the hardwood compiling a 26 - 9 record, with 20 consecutive victories and both the District 20 3-A Title and Area Championship under their built.

It was a very impressive run collectively as a squad, but now comes the individual praises with the release of the All-District 20 3A team.

It may not surprise to many that the top spot in the district was taken by none other than Diboll's own Nikki Greene. She proved to be a dominating force down low at the post, and at times was even able to give the Lady Jacks a spark from behind the arch.

Greene will return to the fold next season, with the honors already coming it is certain for even more accolades to follow.

Joining Greene on the squad are Kayla Elizalde and Vanessa Jones. This impressive tandem was named to the First Team in 20 3-A.

Both young women are juniors and will reunite with Greene in the 2008-09 season.

Garnering Second Team accolades this season are Ternisha Jackson and PJ Tappin respectfully.

These two young ladies had outstanding season and gave Diboll that extra push all year long. They are also the only two seniors on the squad and will be missed greatly next year.

Rounding out the players honors this year is JaFrina Jackson. Jacksn received honorable mention for all of her hard work this season.

"I was very proud of our representation on the 20- AAA All-District team,"Head Coach Laura Knight stated.

Knight also joins the All- District squad with her selection as Coach of the Year for 2007-08.

"I am very humbled to be named the coach of the year and I couldn't have done it without the talented girls that play for me," Knight said.

"This years team overcame injuries and pulled together. We all feel that the ending was premature and it makes us hungry for next year. The girls will be playing all spring and summer to prepare for a run next year," Knight concluded.
