Sports a plenty in the Spring, a few changes and more
SPRING SPORTS

Wow, it is hard to believe that the basketball season has come to close and the Spring time is on its way.

Speaking of the basketball season, I want to congratulate all of the teams that hit the courts and gave it their all this season, there is a definite reward in what you do. To the Lady Jacks, well lets go and get'em next season.

Now for the Spring, an amazing and beautiful time of year describes it fairly well, but a busy an action packed time could do it justice as well. From baseball, softball, tennis, golf, powerlifting to track and field it is a busy and oftly full slate for competition in high school sports.

If you have not gotten the opportunity to come out and catch any of these activities yet, well luckily there are still plenty of chances to do so. This week in fact is full of events from the track meet in Corrigan on Thursday, to the softball tournament here at Diboll, well there is plenty to do.

These young athletes get a lot of support from the Diboll community and everyone deserves a pat on the back for that. As a matter of fact I believe Diboll may very well travel better than any school I have seen. There always seems to be a good size group in attendance whether it is a home or away event.

CHANGES AND MORE

Well as you might have noticed the Sports section has been tweaked a bit this week. I like to think it is much more reflective of what Diboll sports fans expect in their sports coverage. It has been a world of sweeping changes around the Free Press, but I think that we are starting to grab the old proverbial bull by the horns and I know some folks think it is probably about time.

I hope you enjoy the stories and information that we deliver each week and I am excited that we have brought back the Diboll Free Press Jacks of the Week, formerly known as the players of the week.

There is plenty more to come and I know that we will be working harder than ever before to get things done at the Free Press.

As for me I am finally getting moved into town and I could not be happier, because driving from Dayton to Diboll every day is not exactly the most exciting stretch of freeway in the world, nor is the gas getting any cheaper.

So please come on by or call me and let me know what you think I can do to improve the sports coverage, because believe it or not it helps us to give you a better product.

Until next time I'll be hanging out somewhere in left field!
