Historic Diboll victory in soccer An historic feat was reached last week when the Diboll Lady Jacks Soccer team put an end to their winless streak and recorded their first victory. The win made even more special came in front of the hometown fans here in Diboll. The team has shown serious signs of improvement as they have gone along this year, but Tuesday night in a district match-up with Center the biggest step in their young history was achieved. The Center Lady Bulldogs were unable to make a goal on a tough nosed Lady Jack defense and the Diboll squad took the win 2 - 0. Yadira Salais and Jazmin Robles both scored goals in the victory over Center. The offense put on their best showing by far with Mayra Silva, Cristina Soto coming up with two big shots on goal apiece. Andraya Escobedo also attempted three in the match. It was perhaps Rosita Silva that made the big difference in the contest with 10 huge saves against Center. The Lady Jacks returned to the field Friday night in a road game against Henderson. Diboll came out with some tough woes on the injury and illness front facing them as they came into the game. The night was a hard one for Diboll, however it saw a big improvement on their part as they lost by 17 goals the first go round with Henderson. In the end the Lady Jacks fell by a final score of 8 - 0. Robles came up with two shots on goal, also contributing were M. Silva and Ruth Lopez. The team heads to Lady Dragon country this Friday with games at 5:30 and 7:00 in Nacagdoches. |
