Library closed for remodel March 10-23 Diboll's library will be closed for the next two weeks as staff members relocate the facility temporarily. The T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library will be closed to the public March 10-23 as the library moves to make way for the ongoing expansion and renovation project. The new temporary home of the library is 800 North Temple, the former Temple Associates Building. This is the building just north of the new Campbell Group headquarters, formerly the Human Resources Building for Temple Inland. "Temple Inland has gracious- ly agreed to let us use part of this building as a temporary home until our new buildingrenovation project is completed," library director Brenda Russell said in a press release. "Naturally we won't have as much room there as we do here so this means our collection will be limited. We will only be taking with us what we actually think will be used for the next four to six months." Russell is asking library patrons for patience. The move will allow the construction contractors to shorten the expansion project by four to five months, she said, meaning the project should be completed by September or October rather than January or February. Parts of the job, such as putting in new ductwork for the ventilation systems, cannot be done with the library occupied, she said. During the relocation, only four computers will be available to the public. "Most likely we will have to put time limits on the computers during this time," Russell said. "We have never had to do this, but when we get back in the new facility, we will go back to our former policy." Patrons are urged to go by the library close to March 10 and take as many books home as they can. This will help the staff with packing and moving. The books can be returned after the library is up in the new location. |
