Leona (Gibson) Yeates

Funeral services for Leona (Gibson) Yeates, 90, of Huntington were held Saturday. March 1, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Lamar Denby officiating. Interment will follow in the Shofner Cemetery.

Mrs. Yeates went to her Heavenly home Tuesday, February 26, 2008. Beloved mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister and friend, she was born in Angelina County, Texas July 11, 1917, to the late Annie (Stuart) and Herbert Gibson. She had been resident of Huntington for more than 50 years and was a member of the Highway Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Yeates.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Barbara Yeates of San Angelo, Don and Peggy Yeates of Buffalo and Mike and Kathy Yeates of Pearland; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Anne Belle Basey of Huntington; a number of nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Pallbearers were Brian Yeates, Paul Yeates, Ralph Gibson, Eddie Weaver, Dwayne King and Dwight Walker. Honorary pallbearers were John Taylor and Byford Sheffield.
