Clinon "Bit" Thompson

Clinon "Bit" Thompson, 71, of Nacogdoches, was born January 15, 1937, in Angelina County, Texas, and he passed away Thursday, February 28, 2008, in a Nacogdoches hospital.

Mr. Thompson was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a road construction worker, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and poker. He loved his family, friends and his dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Thompson of Nacogdoches; daughters, Sandy Pate of Rusk and Shelia Grimes of Henderson; stepson, John Noiley of Houston; granddaughters, Lisa Powell of Henderson, Heather Richards of Lufkin, Branch Nolley of Wells and Tasha Nolley of Pollok; grandsons, Josh Lindsey of Alto and justin Lindsey of Nacogdoches; great-grandsons, Kenny Fans of Henderson and Braedon Lindsey of Alto; greatgranddaughters, Kaedynce Powell of Henderson, Gracie Lindsey of Nacogdoches, Riley of Wells and Mary Kay of Lufkin ; sisters, Janice James of Lufk[n and Glenda McKinney of Chandler; brother, Marshall Ray Thompson of Rusk; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other family members.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Laura (Choate) and Robert Lee Thompson.

Pallbearers were Nathan Thompson, Pete Thompson, Justin Lindsey, Bobby Thompson, Lee Thompson and Larry Wayne James.

Honorary pallbearers were Bubba McKinney, Mike McKinney, Daryl McKinney, Joel Paul Thompson, David Thompson, DeWayne Thompson, Donald James and Kenny Fans.

Services for Mr. Thompson were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Josh Lindsey and Bro. Joe Carriere officiating. Interment will follow in the Simpson Cemetery.
