Emma Lamora "Kokey" Gossett Emma Lamora Kokey" Gossett, 89, of Diboll, was born November 30, 1918, in Anderson County, Texas, the daughter of the late Ida Rebecca (Talley) and Edward Lewis Colbert. She passed away Friday, February 29, 2008, in a local hospital. Mrs. Gossett was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and greatgreat grandmother. She had been a resident of Diboll since 1 942. She loved to travel, loved gospel music, and enjoyed reunions and family get-togethers. Mrs. Gossett was a devoted member of Diboll First United Pentecostal Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Louise Gossett of Diboll; daughter and son-in-law, Debris and Billy Davenport of Diboll; grandson and his wife, Andy and Lisa Gossett of Diboll; granddaughter and her husband, Wendy and Todd Willis of Brentwood, California; granddaughter, Annette Davenport of Diboll; grandson and his wife, Chad and Rebecca Davenport of Diboll; 12 greatgrandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends; close friends, Agness Harper and ha Mayfield. Mrs. Gossett was preceded in death by her husband, Laymon Gossett; sisters, Brunette Gossett and Ollie Simpson; brother-in-law, Irie Gossett; and her parents. Pallbearers were Jeff Glass, O'Dale Harper, Sam Gossett, Scotty Cosby, Philip Free and Jason Harris. Honorary pallbearers were James Cosby and Brian Ward. Services for Mrs. Gossett were held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Elzine Strong officiating. Eulogy was offered by Reverend Andy Gossett. Interment followed in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery. |
