Brother James H. Brock

Funeral services for Brother James H. Brook, 68, of Lufkin were held Friday, February 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Harvey and Brother Leslie Wilkerson officiating. Interment followed in the Narrow Way Cemetery.

Brother Brook was born January 15, 1940 in Apple Springs, Texas to the late Ola (Alexander) and Frank Brock. He vacated his earthly home and arrived at his Heavenly home Tuesday, February 26, 2008, surrounded by his loved ones.

Brother Brook had resided in East Texas most of his life. He served in the ministry for more than 35 years and pastored three area churches, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Lufkin, Damascus Baptist Church in Corrigan, and for the past 15 years, Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Corrigan. Brother Brock enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved ministering to people.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Betsy Brock of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Mike Faussett of Lufkin; Sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Ginger Brock of Lufkin and Gary and Monica Brock of North Pole, Alaska: beloved grandchildren, Kelli Faussett, Chris Faussett, Nathan Brook and Dalton Brock; brother and sister-in-law, Roland D. and Elizabeth Brock of Lufkin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Donald Luce, Robbie and Floyd Sterling, Carolyn and Jesse Lee and Marie and Frank Mattchett, all of Lufkin; mother-in-law, Myra Freeman of Lufkin; sister-inlaw, Nell Brock of Beaumont; sister, Elizabeth Ford of Beaumont; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Brock; parents, Ola (Alexander) and Frank Brook; brothers, W.H. "Chicken" Brock and R.C. Brook; and father-in-law, Jim Freeman.

Pallbearers were Brother Brock's nephews: Mike Brock, Doug Brock, Ricky Mettlin, Tim Lee, Curtis Aldridge, Dwayne Brock, Jeffery May, Jared Brasuell, Coby May and John E. Lee.

Honorary pallbearers were the men of Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

The family greatly appreciates the loving care given by Dr. Sanders, Dr. Glenn, Dr. Huber, Dr. Benetiz and the staff of Memorial Hospital and the inpatient unit of Hospice in the Pines.
