ONE YEAR AGO a prank at Diboll High School turns into felony offense for 10 DHS students. Group of 10 arrested, charged with burglary.

The City of Diboll will be soon going high-tech and with the installation of red-light cameras at the city's three major intersections, Lumberjack Drive/Harris Street, Hines/Judd streets and Thompson/Dennis streets.

Pearl Weaver Havard, local historian and former correspondent for the Diboll Free Press, celebrates her 95th birthday. A reception is hosted by her children/grandchildren at the Beulah Community Center.

Diboll High School Ladyjack basketball players receive postdistrict honors. Nikki Greene & Vanessa Jones, TGCA All- State; Ladyjack Coach Laura Knight is selected District 20- 3A Coach of the Year.

The Anthony Smith Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution honors 2007 DAR Good Citizens from the county's six area schools: Amanda Carr, Pollok's Central High School; Justin Barkley, Diboll High School; Adam Fischer, Hudson High School; Caitland Albritton, Huntington High School; Parker Brody, Lufkin High School; and Kyle Stone, Zavalla High School.

FIVE YEARS AGO Diboll High School medalists at the Academic Decathlon competition are Ashlei Burchfield, Keisha Ray, Gloria Miranda, Kimberly Shivers and Curtis Rogers.

DO-ABLE Products, Inc. begins production with Temple- Inland to buy the equipment in the company's old lamination facility.

Fleetwood Transportation Services, Inc. of Diboll announces the appointment of Wendy Bryan as comptroller/officer to the corporation with the position of assistant treasurer.

Angelina College honors ex- Roadrunner and former major leaguer Dennis Cook. Cook starred for the Roadrunners with the 1982 and 1983 baseball teams, followed by an outstanding career at The University of Texas and 15 major league seasons capping off by winning two World Series titles (1997 Florida Marlins and 2002 Anaheim Angels).

TEN YEARS AGO scouts from Diboll Cub Scout Pack 128 and Boy Scout Troop 128 spends weekend aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Lexington as part of unique camping program. Scouts making the trip are Toby Widman, Brett Hendricks, Derek Constante, Josh Hearne, Trey Brown, John Macher, Trey Jones, Jonathan Jones, Scoutmaster David Macher and Assistant Scoutmaster Jeff Hearne.

District 20-3A Ladies Basketball Diboll High School selections include Tamara Harrell, first team; Cassi Lenderman, second team; and Casey Yates, honorable mention. Boys selections to the District 20-3A include Diboll High School's Darrin Oliphant, first team and Cedric Vinson, first team.

Angelina College receives $196,000 grant from Telecommunication Infrastructure Fund Board to aid community colleges in purchasing technology related equipment.

TWENTY YEARS AGO Temple-Eastex recently retired employees include James Smith, 38-years of service as forklift operator at Diboll Lumber Operations and Jerry Lackey, 27-years of service as superintendent of general labor.

Gonzales Mexican Food Restaurant host grand opening in the Wal-Mart Center in Lufkin. Manuel and Sybil Gonzales are the owners/operators.

Monica Temple, 23, is Angelina College's Fine Arts model this year under instructor Mary Read. Miss Temple, a broadcast journalist major, is a former Miss Northeast Texas and 1983 graduate of Diboll High School.

Eddie Horton defeats Gary Jones for Angelina County Pct. 5 Constable's race to win his first full term in the office.

Buna Lumber Operation dispatches its first truckload of lumber produced by Temple- Eastex's new $30 million timber processing facility.

THIRTY YEARS AGO newly elected officials of the Diboll Little League are Mike Crager, president; Darwin (Bo) Smith & Ellen Temple, vice president; Sue Sanford, secretary/ treasurer; Gary Mike Smith, umpire-in-chief; Ted Williams, player agent; Monk Warner, safety; and Mary Burns, ladies auxiliary. Joe Gage will direct the farm league and Alvin Fasske will direct the t-ball league.

Jack Jenkins, Texas Power & Light Company representative, is awarded the Diboll Rotary Club's coveted Vocational Service Award.

The Diboll Post Office announces that applications are being accepted and examinations will be given to establish a register of eligibles from which future vacancies in this office can be filled.

Diboll ISD band students Doreen Holt, Karen Ingram, Kathy McWilliams, Mary Lester and Evelyn Carr participate in UIL Solo Contest. Evelyn Carr qualified to advance to the Austin state solo competition.

The Southland Foundation of Lufkin donates $1,000 to the Groveton Public Library for renovations and book purchases.
