Edwin H. Woodard Funeral services for Edwin H. Woodard, 78, of Marshall were at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Wesley United Methodist Church with Dr. Marvin Harris and Rev. Ron Patterson officiating. Interment followed in the Yates Cemetery under the direction of Downs Funeral Home of Marshall with Military Honors. Mr. Woodard passed away Friday, March 14, 2008, in Longview. Ed was born March 08, 1930, to Clyde Woodard and Myrtle Nicholson Woodard in Palestine, Texas. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1948 and Texas A&M in 1958. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1948 during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953 with the rank of staff sergeant. He married Jeannette Broker on May 28, 1955, in Diboll, Texas. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He worked for Norit Americas, Inc., retiring as Plant Controller. Mr. Woodard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeannette Woodard of Marshall, a son Andy Woodard and his wife Jana of Marshall, and daughter Karyn Tipton and her husband Corwyn of Kennard, and two much loved grandchildren Jimmy and Amanda Tipton, also of Kennard. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rev. Charles Woodard. Pallbearers were Bill Brannon, Jr., Stan Brannon, Mike Brannon, Paul Woodard, Calvin Nicholson, and Scott Nicholson. Honorary pallbearers were Corwyn Tipton, Don Woodard, Terry Smith, and Mark Weatherby. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or to the Epilepsy Foundation. |
