Candidates answer public's questions at Free Press forum scheduled next month

Diboll Free Press sponsors a public forum for candidates in the May 10 municipal and school elections 6 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the Lottie and Arthur Temple Civic Center.

The forum is for all candidates to give brief statements about themselves, their qualifications and reasons for running, followed by questions from the audience. Questions must be written and signed. Forms will be provided. Questions may be directed at all candidates or a particular candidate.

Nine men are seeking two two-year terms and one unexpired, one-year term on the Diboll City Council. Five men are seeking three three-year terms on the Diboll school board. City council candidates will speak first, followed by a 30-minute question period, then the school board candidates will repeat the process.

Diboll schools Athletic Director Gary Martel will be master of ceremonies.

The public and especially registered voters are encouraged to attend the forum. There is no admission fee. Light refreshments will be available.
