Bennie B. Burke

Funeral services for Bennie B. Burke, 88, of Huntington were held Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Willie Wade officiating. Graveside services were held at noon in the Martinsville Cemetery.

Mrs. Burke was born January 19, 1920 in Martinsville, Texas to the late Lettie (Holt) and Benjamin Franklin Smith, and died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 in a local hospital.

A former resident of Houston, Mrs. Burke had resided in Huntington for the past 20 years. She was a professional seamstress, and made her own patterns for men's as well as women's clothing. Mrs. Burke was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Edward "Butch" Burke of Huntington; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
