ALL AROUND LUFKIN
Janice Ann Rowe

John and Melody Adams were invited to the White House to celebrate the 44th reunion of the Midland High Schools: Robert E. Lee, Midland High and Carver High. John graduated from Robert E. Lee with Laura Welch Bush in 1964. There were 500 people that came which included graduates and one guest. Melody said it was an enchanted and magical evening. They were loose in the White House on Friday night to take pictures and were able to see the president's helicopter land. Saturday night was a buffet in several rooms on the second floor. Jellyroll was the band that played. They bought tickets to the two-night affair and enjoyed every minute. About 10 years ago, they had the reunion in the Governor's Mansion in Austin.

The Roundtable did their annual Catfish Fry for David McMahon in Fort Smith, Ark., Saturday, March 29. Those cooking were: Raymond Moore, Charles Arnold, Charles Kent, Bob Brown, Hugh Anderson, Kip Miller, Ernest Rowe, Mack Carnes and Jerry Highnote. Young Moores, David and Andrew Moore cooked okra patties while Brian and Benjamin Moore cooked a new concoction called "Mumbo Jumbo." The secret recipe came from Raymond Moore. We were supposed to vote on what we like best, but how do you vote against a Moore. The Roundtable has given 199 scholarships since they started the Chuck Arnold Memorial Scholarship Fund in 1989. Proceeds from the rib eye sandwiches that they cook at the Junior Live Stock Show, at the Forest Festival and private parties go to the scholarship.

Mabelyne McKnight uses the wet wipes when she gets into her car after grocery shopping. I told her to use the wipes at the grocery store. She had not noticed them. I started wiping the handle of the buggy and my hands when I grocery shop. Mabel said that I had taught her something.

I was mistaken about the bluebonnets across from Dan and Barbara Carter's house. The land belongs to Barb and Tom Flournoy and their bluebonnets are outstanding. Get out to see them.

Shelly and Monty Hollis with children Huntter and Hadlee when to DisneyWorld for spring break. They made all of the theme parks: Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studio, Magic Kingdom. They stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort on Disney property. A highlight for 9-year-old Hadlee was lunch with the princesses at Epcot in the German section. They all enjoyed a luau dinner at the Polynesian Resort. Huntter, who is 14, enjoyed the Rock and Roll Roller Coaster. The family's favorite restaurant was the Sci-FiCafé where you eat in cars under the stars like a drive in theater, but it was all inside. The waitresses were on roller skates. Hadlee's favorite ride was the Tower of Terror.
