NSDAR officers inducted, recruit members

The Anthony Smith Chapter National Society of the Daughters of the American

Revolution met and viewed the video "Today's DAR" which is a new vehicle in spreading the word about the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, a non-profit, nonpolitical, volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and securing America's future through better education. The Anthony Smith Chapter welcomes new and prospective members who think they may be eligible for DAR membership. Please contact Polly Young, Regent, at 936-634- 7908 for more information.

New Officer of the Anthony Smith Chapter NSDAR for 2008-2010 are:

Regent, Polly Young; Vice Regent, Virginia Welch; Recording Secretary, Natalie Crowson; Treasurer, Patsy McGill, Registrar, LaNell Johnson-Marsellos; Chaplain, Dorothy Owen and Parliamentarian, Frances Peavy.

Hostesses for the meeting were: Harriot Whiddon, Elma Alexander, Nancy Cumbie and

Emily Shelton.

The next meeting will be May 6, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the parlor of St. Cyprian's

Episcopal Church, Lufkin, TX. The program will include awarding the Ella May Underwood Memorial Scholarship and the Anthony Smith Chapter NSDAR Scholarship to two deserving seniors and the installation of new officers.
