Early voting slated for Diboll City Hall

Early voting for the Diboll school district's May 10 board election will be held at Diboll City Hall as the city and school board hold their first-ever joint election.

Voting in both elections on election day itself will be at the Diboll Primary School cafeteria, the same location as in years past.

Early voting begins Monday, April 28, and continues until Tuesday, May 6.

Joint elections with school districts and a city within the district's boundaries were mandated by the Texas Legislature in 2006. Last year the school district had no contested races and thus was able to cancel its election. This year is the first election since the new law took effect to see contested races in both the school and city elections.

Voters who live within the Diboll city limits will vote a single ballot with school board candidates, city council candidates and the city's proposed

home rule charter on it. School district voters outside the city limits will get a separate ballot with only the school board candidates listed. City Hall is the early voting site for all school district voters.
