T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library progress continues

Progress, that's what you will see if you drive past the old library building at 300 Park Street. Concrete slabs have been put in and framework going up for the new additions. There are even a few solid walls up now. Things are changing on the inside of the existing building as well. The completion date, so far, is slated for September 30, 2008.

With the school year coming near its end and summer looming before us, it brings thoughts of summer activities. Some of you are probably wondering, with our move and all, if we are going to be able to have our summer reading programs this year. We are happy to announce that we will be having our summer reading programs this year. However they will be held off sight. The children's programs will be at the Diboll Elementary School Auditorium and the teen programs will be at the Scout House in Old Orchard Park. Registration for these summer reading programs will begin May 19, 2008 right here at the library.

We had to say goodbye to a very dear lady a couple of weeks ago, Beulah Beidleman. "Mrs. B", as we called her, worked for the Library in the 1980's. She was a friend to all, and a wonderful person. She passed away on April 9 at the age of 104! One of her daughters, Carolyn Jefferson, was the Diboll Elementary Librarian during the 80's as well. Carolyn now lives near Denver Colorado. We always hate to say goodbye to our mentors, and "Mrs. B" was no exception. She will be missed!
