Sawmill Supper slated for Friday night

Get ready for a great time at the Twentyfirst Annual Sawmill Supper on Friday, May 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Texas Forestry Museum in Lufkin. A traditional meal of cornbread and homemade beans combined with great entertainment guarantees family fun for all.

Local chefs cooking up their gourmet beans include Chuck Robinson, Jim Tierney, John Thannisch and Debbie Richards of Yates Broadcasting. Clarkie Mae Brown will be back for her 21st time bringing her famous "hot" beans. Juanita Walls and Betty Ann and Jeff Holsinger will do the honors of homemade cornbread. The simple old-fashioned meal rounds out with coleslaw, cobbler, and iced tea, lemonade, or sodas.

Live Bluegrass music by Yeller Dawg, dressed in their old-fashioned period garb, will have toes tapping. Traditional crafters will demonstrate their skills. Come enjoy a casual, fun community get-together.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-12. Children 5 and under are free. Sponsors for the Sawmill Supper include Catfish King, Golden Corral, Lufkin Coca Cola, Memorial Health System of East Texas, and Chick-Fil-A.
