Finley set to do Lambeau Leap
By Russell Payne Sports Editor

Jermichael Finley was in town for the Lumberjacks final home game of the season.
From the Deep East Texas piney woods to the frozen tundra of Green Bay, Wisconsin is where Diboll's own Jermichael Finley will call home from now on. With the 91st selection overall the NFL's Green Bay Packers chose Finley to join the ranks of their famed franchise.

When one thinks of the Packers it is no doubt that Vince Lombardi, Bart Star, Reggie White and recent retiree Brett Favre all come right to mind. So there is no doubt that for Finley this will be one of the greatest opportunities to play professional football that a rookie in the NFLcould ever ask for. Finley is sure to find a role in the Green Bay system that will see its first new go to quarterback in a long time, not to be Favre.

Aaron Rogers will take those reigns and it will likely be his team for the near future.

Finley joins the 2007 NFLNorth Division Champions and will be working with Tight Ends Coach Ben McAdoo.

McAdoo was interviewed by Packers.com and had quite a lot to say about Finley and what he brings to the table now, as well as what he could add to the

Packers down the road.

"'He's a smooth gifted athlete,'" McAdoo told the Packers.com website in an article by Mike Spofford. He continued, "' He's got some scrappiness to him and I like that about him.'"

Finley will have an opportunity to really get involved in the tight end rotation in Green Bay, especially with the recent departure of longtime veteran Bubba Franks.

Now we will just have to wait and see what the next chapter in this remarkable story about a remarkable hometown athlete has in store for everyone.

For Finley it will be minicamps and hard work and it gets going immediately.

Maybe next it will be a touchdown followed by the Lambeau leap.
