Over the next few weeks Martin Doran will be compiling a list of volunteers who carry out ministries in our church. We will begin with Juanita Hopson who has written for the Diboll Free Press concerning HUMC for over 40 years. Carolyn Black has been playing the piano for over 30 years. The next in the chronological line is Janet Thomas. Janet has been here as organist since 1984. I believe that is about 24 years. The fourth volunteer coming to mind is Polly Trinkle. Polly has served on every committee in the church including being chairperson of the Administrative Board when the Huntington Church moved to its present location. Polly joined here in 1978. Congratulations to Calvin and Allison Kirkland Thigpen on the birth of Abbee Cheyenne, 5 pounds, 10 ounces and 17 _ inches long. Maternal grandparents are Hubert and Pam Kirkland and great-grandparents are Paul and Sue Nerren. The trustees recently began inserting tempered glass panels into the doors of the education rooms. This is in keeping with the rules of Safe Sanctuary. Several other projects are ongoing. We appreciate their willingness to do needed improvements. The trustees are Chairpersons Woody Wood and Al Martin; Class of 2008, Guy Nunn, Kippy Hopson and Wayne Warren; Class of 2009, Al Frick, Debra Bashaw and Winnie Hatch; Class of 2010, Bobby Pinner, Sam Cain, Jamie Burnett and Byford Sheffield.
