ALL AROUND LUFKIN
Martha and Ray Carswell wanted to try Olive Garden when her TCU roommate Ellen Winn and friend Maryett Thompson were in town from Houston. Instead they went to the newly opened Casa Morales and saw Carolyn and Stanley New, David and Kelley Moore with Maci, Mary Ann and Neal Naranjo with Jay, Stella Frances Naranjo and Mitch Gibson. The News had 2-year-old granddaughter Cora Howard while her parents Hilary and Jason Howard were at the Kentucky Derby. Cherri and Clint Teutsch's Carianne graduates from LHS this May and will be attending SFA in the fall. Carianne tried out at SFA cheerleader tryouts and made it! She is now a 2008-2009 SFA Cheerleader! Clint and Cherri are so proud of her hard work and dedication! So now they will have two cheerleader daughters next year, Carianne at SFA and Calianne at Lufkin Middle School. I looks like Clint and Cherri will be spending a lot of time sitting on bleachers this fall! Jennifer and Stephen Conway on Wildbriar will move the end of the summer when the city tears down their house due to being in the flood plain. Houses on Wildbriar that are gone are 1311 and 1312. Others to be torn down are 1310 and 1308. There are several on Reen that are in the flood plain. Jennifer said that they flooded in 1985 for the first time and then in 1995, 1999 and two times in 2004. Joie and Bubba Henderson are new grandparents. Reed Henderson Rothermel was born to Honey and Louis Rothermel on Louis' birthday April 30. Reed is 20 inches long and weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces. Honey and Reed will be in Lufkin while the remodeling construction on their home in Dallas is finished in a couple of months. Holly and Sister Henderson will be here to help Joie take care of Honey and Reed. Katherine Goodwin, daughter of Phillip and Kay Goodwin and bride elect of Ben Rolf, was honored with a bridal shower at the home of Sally Denman. Other hostesses were: Alesa Baker, Connie DuBose, Donna Grimes, Nancy Hicks, Tamara Lewis, Jayne Mc- Curry, Connie Minshew, and Kim Strong. I met Tamara Lewis who was in the Panther Pride Drill Team with my Nancy Jumper Herde. Happy Birthday: Barbara Carter, James Gibbs, Dorothy Brock, Clelon Wingate, Carter Meyers, Dawn Summers, Lillian New, Ethan Brown, Mabel Berry, Elma Alexander, Lauren Camp, Nell Bivin, Brian Zoss, Cathy Todd, Courtney Hale, Elsie Simpson, Margaret Dillahunty. Happy Anniversary: Joyce and Robert McDonald, Carolyn and Ed Booth. Judy McKinney told Clarkie Brown that she had a day lily blooming that she got from Clarkie's yard on Frank Street before they moved. Mark Hicks and Todd Stracener will be opening the Main Event, a party rental store, in June. Rebecca West will be working with them in the design area to help customers with their selections for upscale chairs, tables, linens, candelabras, and ice sculptures. Congratulations to Reagan Squyres, son of Debbie and Reggie Squyres, who will be graduating from Texas State University - San Marcos with his Bachelor of Applied Business Administration Degree on May 9. Dana and Jack Jumper are the proud grand parents of Elizabeth Grace Matheson born to Rebecca and Dan Matheson on April 27 in New York City. Elizabeth weighed 9 pounds 8 ounces and was 21 inches long. Laverne and Walter Ferguson have fresh vegetables at their Farm Market. I had my veggie fix last week. Ann and Derrill Cates have moved to PineCrest on the third floor. They were in the Spyglass house for 28 years and had to downsize. Dorothy and Doc Hughey are building a garden home off Harmony Hill. Their home on Winged Foot is for sale. They hope to move the end of the summer. The crowd was at the 10th Relay for Life at the LMS field. Tents were everywhere and purple shirted survivors led the walk around the track. Lauralyn Mathis Hilliards' friends and family collected the most money and had comfortable couches under their tent for them to use during the night. Jamison and Lee Hilliard, Peyton Mathis, Martha and Ken Mears were cooking catfish plates. Barbara Mathis had Lauralyn's cookbooks. We enjoyed the Sawmill Supper at the Texas Forestry Museum. I had beans cooked by Clarkie Brown, John Thannisch and Debbie Richards and was not able to have room for beans cooked by Jim Tierney, Sharon Young and Chuck Robinson. The cornbread cooked by Juanita Walls, Betty and Jeff Holsinger was cut in big pieces. Let me hear your news. Janice Ann roweja@suddenlink.net. |
