Tom "Tweety" Doss (TED)

Tom "Tweety" Doss (TED), 69, of Wells, was born March 6, 1 939, in Cherokee County, Texas, the son of the late Marjorie (Russell) and Freddie Lee Doss. He passed away Saturday, May 9, 2008, at his residence. Tom was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He retired from the LFM Credit Union, following 10 years of employment. He was a past member of the Wells City Council and the Wells Lions Club. He held an Associates Degree in accounting. He served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. Tom was a member of Falvey Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Janice Wilkins Doss of Wells; daughter and son-in-law, Jana and Mark Pool of Nacogdoches; son and daughter-in-law, Tracy "Bucky" (TED) and Hilliary Doss of Wells; grandchildren, Skylar Pool, Trevin Pool, Tristin (TED) Doss, Keagan French and Jaymie French; sister-inlaw, Helen Cheshire of Lufkin; cousins, Janie Durham. and Joe Doss, both of Wells; and a number of other family members.

Pallbearers were Mike Cook, Douglas Durham, Carty Williams, Cary Cheshire, Bobby Cheshire and Rodney Cheshire.

Expressions of sympathy in Tom's memory may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 11 6 S. Raguet, Lufkin, Texas 75904; or to the Rube Sessions Memorial Library, 298 Rusk Avenue, Wells, Texas 75976.

Services for Tom were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Leon Wallace and Reverend David Hunt officiating. Committal services followed in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells, with Reverend Bailey Alders officiating.
