Harold Collins Sr. Funeral services for Brother Harold Collins, Sr. were held Dec. 20, 2008 in the Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Zavalla with Brother Lamar Denby and Brother Link Ham officiating. Interment followed in the Concord Cemeteryunder the direction of Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Huntington. He was born March 21, 1938 in San Augustine County to Sylvia (Norwood) and T.W. Collins. He died Dec. 17. He had resided in Angelina County for many years. He retired from his ministry earlier this year after serving the last 17 years at Concord Missionary Baptist Church of Zavalla. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Shane Havard of Huntington, Tina Collins of. Lufkin and Julia and George Cartwright of Huntington; son, Harold "Bubba" Collins Jr. of Huntington; grandchildren, Michael Havard, Mandy Havard, Mitchel Havard, Robert "Buckshot" Brashear, Leslie Young, Jessica Cartwright Portillo, Jamie Cartwright and Matthew Cartwright; five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas Wayne and Ruby Collins and Charles Henry and Mary Collins, all of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvia (Norwood) and I.W. Collins; wife, Frances Rash Collins; sister, Wanda Lee Parker; brother, Clifford Collins; and great-grandson, Ayden Shane Havard. Pallbearers were Michael Havard, David Collins, Matthew Cartwright, Larry Collins, Mitchel Havard, Dennis Collins, Robert "Buckshot" Brashear and Jason Collins. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Collins and Charles Collins. Mary Ann Hobbs Funeral services for Mary Ann Hobbs, 68, of Lufkin were held Dec. 20, 2008 at the Carroway Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Leon Wallace and Nathan Scoggins officiating. Interment followed in the Old Union Cemetery. She was born Feb. 9, 1940, in the Fastrill Community, Cherokee County, to the late Vida (White) and the Rev. A.K. Johnson, and died Wednesday, Dec. 17, in a local hospital. She spent her childhood in Diboll, and was a 1958 graduate of Diboll High School. She had resided in Lufkin most of her adult life. She was a homemaker, and attended the First Assembly of God Church in Diboll. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Veronica Hobbs of Nacogdoches and Mark and Laura Hobbs of Diboll; daughter, Kathy Cox-Marchette of Lufkin; grandsons, Zachary Alan Hobbs, Brett Ryan Hobbs and Aaron James Cox; granddaughters, Emilie Michele Hobbs, Kaleigh Ann Cox and Kelsi Dawn Cox; brother, Kirk Johnson of Lufkin; sisters, Frankie Cummins of Bald Hill, Billie Williams of Lufkin and Carolyn Morris of Diboll; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bobbie Williams and Minnie Frances Johnson; former husband, Johnny Hobbs; and son-in-law, Shonn Cox. Pallbearers were David Broaddus, Ricky Morris, Bradley Morris, Keith Morris, Gary Williams and Kevin Johnson. |
