      Happy New Year everyone! We have moved into our new building and are open for business. This new building is quite a sight to see; you can never imagine the transformation that has been made. The old has become new and the new is beyond our imagination. On the outside we may not have changed much, but the inside will surprise everyone.

     William (Bill) McGuire age 8 yrs of Diboll killed his first deer while hunting with his Dad Jamie, Papa Ivey, and Uncle Brad at the Delbert Jones Hunting Club in Wells, TX. He shot her with his Papa McGuire's (Big John) 220 swift at 60 yards. She weighed in at 115 pounds.

     The Angelina County Medical Alliance met recently to honor past presidents of the group. The alliance, spouses of local physicians, has met for more than 60 years in Angelina County, providing, among other things, nursing and other medically related scholarships to area students.       HAPPY NEW YEAR! Have you seen the guy on TV that goes around and hands out money to everyone? Bo Smith was handing out $2 bills to friends on the first and second day of the 2009 new year. Thanks Bo, that's very thoughtful. At the David Cattle Company ranch south of Chester near Caney Creek, Josh and Nancy David hosted a lunch on New Year's Day.

      The Garretts and Peggilu shared their Christmas trip, which was very memorable! Bob and Marguerite Garrett with Peggilu Watkins and daughter Ruth Watkins spent Christmas week visiting both sons in Arlington and Waco. On Monday, Dec. 22, they traveled to Arlington to visit Bob and Janie Garrett, Bob and Marguerite's first son.

      Who would look forward to having lots of kids every five or six months and most likely with late March you would have a possible 120 kids to send packing? That would be perfect for goat farmers like Peggy and John Taylor. Several other folks raise goats in this East Texas area. Why would anybody want to raise the pesky little darlings?

      AUSTIN — House Speaker Tom Craddick, R-Midland, abandoned his bid for a fourth term as speaker when it became clear that a challenger had secured enough vote pledges to win. The official vote won't be taken until Jan. 13, opening day for the 81st Texas Legislature.

      All of Diboll Jr. High's Renaissance teachers have again received national recognition for outstanding performance in education, Renaissance Learning announced today. DJHS' Renaissance teachers were awarded Reading Model Classroom by the Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., based company.
