Funeral services for W. Hubert Brasher, 83, of Houston, formerly of Lufkin, were held Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Aubrey Knox officiating. Interment followed in the Walker Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 6, 1925 in Epps, La., to the late Alma Vertice (Hale) and William Clarence Brasher, and died Wednesday, Dec. 31, in Houston.

He served in the Army during World War II and retired from International Harvester as store and parts manager. He was a member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Susan Brasher of Bossier City, La.; daughter and sonin law, Betty and Jim Herrington of Houston; grandchildren and spouses, Lance and wife Elizabeth, Adam, James, Nathan, Amanda, and Emily and husband Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Haley, Abigail, Madison and Isabella.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Aleda Brasher.

Pallbearers were Lance Brasher, Adam Brasher, Nathan Herrington, Ryan Hartzog and Jeremy Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Adult 2 Murray Sunday School Class of Lufkin's First Baptist Church.
