35th year of interdenominational choir
The 35th year celebration of the Lufkin Interdenominational Choir is Wednesday through Saturday, Feb. 18-21, with services beginning at 7 p.m. nightly.
Wednesday's service is at the Church of the Living God, 613 Culverhouse, Lufkin. Speaker is Dr. Robert Evans, pastor of Bethel Temple Church of Longview.
Thursday services are at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church, 812 E. Lufkin Ave. Speaker is Bishop Harold Edwards of the Church of the Living God of Dallas.
Friday, Dr. Billy W. McClendon, pastor of the St. James Missionary Baptist Church of Austin, will be the speaker at services at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Scarbrough. This is the annual consecration and renewal service.
Saturday in the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1519 Williams, will be the "Grand Musical" featuring clinician Leo "Bubba" Taylor of Dallas. Other featured artists include the St. Paul Baptist Church Adult Choir of Monroe, La., Minister Andre Lewis of Shreveport, J. Bass and Wilma Bivens of Houston.
Local, area and out of town gospel artists will appear during each service. A souvenir book will be available nightly for $3. For additional information, call Business Manager Frederic Tims at 634-7911.
