Tobias Wedding
      April LeAnn Tobias and Chester Christoph, both of Lufkin, were united in marriage Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the Red Barn in Lufkin with R.G. Bowers officiating. The bride is the daughter of Judy Tobias of Lufkin and Clifton Tobias of Diboll. The groom is the son of Marvin and Marie Christoph of Lufkin.

Cannons celebrate 50 years together
      Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Cannon, of Diboll, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 6, 2008. Their children surprised them with a party honoring their marriage at JR's Barn in Diboll on Saturday, December 6. Their children are Jody Cannon of Diboll, Jubal and Tracie Cannon of Lufkin, Jeff and Lori Cannon of Diboll, and Jon Cannon of Diboll.

SHEILA'S POTPOURRI
      Lulla and Bob Adams were in Houston for a week to keep Cade, Cole and Ella Carroll while Chris and Karla were out of town. One evening they were going to a movie and 9-year-old Cade urge Lulla and Ella to go shopping in the mall and let the guys take in the movie by themselves. Lulla opted for her and Ella to sit away from the guys rather than try to shop with a 4 year old.

      Last week we were excited at having visitors from the state of Vermont. This week we had visitors that stopped by because they "love this store" and remembered it from a year ago when they first visited. They were from Australia, Spain, India and China.

T.L.L. Temple Library News
      Erase Your Fines Month is finally here! From March 2-31, the library will accept non-perishable food items, toiletries, or cleaning products in lieu of fines during the month of March. Donate one item for each dollar owed to "Erase Your Fines." All items will be donated to Diboll Christian Outreach.

      There's a lot of attention being given lately to the fact that the bosses of all those Wall Street firms that precipitated the current economic crisis are vastly overpaid. President Obama proposed in his stimulus package that CEO pay be limited to $500,000 a year.

      Our own U.S. Rep. Louis Gohmert has introduced a couple of bills dealing with the District of Columbia. One of them calls for the residents of the district to be exempted from federal income taxes as long as they are without voting representation in Congress.

Temple Elementary Accepts the Challenge
      It all started when the students at Diboll Jr. High laid down the gauntlet. They were collecting pull tabs to help the Ronald McDonald House of Houston and challenged other schools in our district to participate. Immediately, Temple Elementary decided to take up their offer.
