T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library news Its allergy season again. Some of the most common allergies are pollen from trees, grass, weeds, mold, animal dander and dust. There is help available at Self-Help for Allergies on www.familydoctor.org. Here are some helpful hints for managing allergies: For pollen - Bathe before bedtime to wash away pollen and other allergens in your hair and on your skin; keep windows and doors shut; use the air conditioner in your car and home. Mold - Remove houseplants; frequently clean shower curtains, bathroom windows, damp walls, areas with dry rot and indoor trash cans. Use a mix of water and chlorine bleach to kill mold. Animal dander - Keep pets outdoors; use allergen-resistant bedding, bathe pet frequently, use an air filter. Dust - Remove drapes, feather pillows, upholstered furniture, non-washable comforters and soft toys; mop the floor often with a damp mop and wipe surfaces with a damp cloth; vacuum regularly with a machine that has a high-efficiency particulate air filter; wash all bedding in hot water every seven to 10 days.
