Ryan Peterson of KTRE presents a check for $1,048.65 to Jeff Woods and Eric Hernandez of the Boys & Girls Club. The donation goes to the Diboll chapter, on behalf of Diboll Lumberjack Cornelius Polk. Polk was named MVP of the boys game at the KTRE River Rivalry, a basketball game pitting the best seniors of Angelina County against the best seniors of Nacogdoches County. KTRE raised more than $3,000 for charity from the game. Chelsea Burns competed in the High Jump where she tied for seventh, and in the Long Jump where she placed fourth. Her Long Jump was over a foot farther than the distance she posted at the district meet. Trey Loche is shown here running the 110m hurdles event. He also ran in the 300 m hurdles, making the finals of both events. A few untimely mishaps while clearing the hurdles kept him from challenging the leaders. Chase Oliver also ran in the 110m hurdle finals. The first few hurdles went flawlessly, but when he looked over to judge his position in relation to his competition, he hit a hurdle with his trail leg and killed his momentum. Brooke Carpenter just missed a trip to state in both the Discuss and Shot Put events as she placed third in each. Her final throw in the Shot Put left her a mere 2.5 inches behind the second place qualifier. Kayla Martel is seen here clearing a jump during the Pole Vault competition. Her best jump cleared eight feet-six inches, good enough for an eigth place finish. Cody Stifle is seen receiving a handoff during the 4x200m relay finals on Saturday. Other team members include Eli Hernandez, Chris Bailey, and Jacolby Spencer. An errant pass of the baton left the boys with an eigth place finish. Jacolby Spencer lands in the sand pit during the Long Jump event on Friday afternoon. His best jump was 21 feet-1 inch, and that was the twelfth farthest jump of the day. |
