Diboll police and fire departments are looking for community members to help save lives at the Guns N' Hoses Blood Drive Thursday, July 9 from 3 to 7 p.m. The coach will be parked at the Police Department located at 400 Kenley Street.

All donors will cast their vote for the Police Department or the Fire Department as they donate blood. More than 12,000 donations are needed this year in East Texas. All those attempting to donate will receive a patriotic tee shirt as a special "Thank You' for helping save patients right here close to home.

Commit for Life donors who successfully complete two donations or a single double red cell donation between May 1 and Aug. 31 will be eligible to order a Kroger gift card worth $15 from the Commit for Life store. A handling fee of 200 Commit for Life store points applies.

For more information, contact police Chief Kent Havard at (936) 829- 5586. To schedule blood donation, visit www.givebloodet.org or call The Blood Center East Texas at 1(888) 433-1733.

The Blood Center East Texas is the local community blood center and primary supplier of blood products to eight hospitals and healthcare facilities in the six East Texas counties surrounding Lufkin and Nacogdoches.

The Blood Center East Texas is asking its donors to Commit for Life. It takes three simple steps: 1) Donate once per quarter; 2) allow The Blood Center to contact you; and 3) spread the word, encouraging others to Commit for Life.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good general health. Individuals who are 16 years old, at least 122 pounds, in good general health and have parental consent also may donate.

The donation process takes about an hour.
