The junior high Dazzlers won first place in the middle school division at the Forrest Festival in the pom pom competition.
This week has been full of excitement; our cheerleaders, dazzlers, twirler, and football players have been practicing very hard to present you with performances and games. The Dazzlers recently preformed at the Texas State Forest Festival last Wednesday and came away with 1st place for the third consecutive year. Thank you to the sponsors Lisa Heath and Bentina Berry. The football player and cheerleaders went to Coldsprings last Thursday, and they gave us a good game.
The pep rally last Thursday was very exiting, congratulations to the 6th grade for winning the spirit stick. The art students, under the guidance of art teacher Jesucita Menz, decorated the 6th grade hall with streamers and posters. The 6th grade teachers and some students led the students in Lumber Jack cheers throughout the pep rally. Our twirler, Angela Concha, did a great job with her routine to “Hand Jive.” We look forward to watching her each week at the pep rally.
Students who are out absent need to bring a note for their absence to be considered excused. Remember to bring the note the first day that you are back to school or within 72 hours. You also need bring a doctor’s excuse if you have one. Students are required to attend 90% of the school days in one year and if a student misses too many days, then they have to make the days up by staying after school or even on Saturdays. Melinda Dover, the assistant principal, and Officer Burrous will really be tracking attendance.
Cookie dough winners for the $50 cash gift were Lizzie Ferguson, 6th grader, and Tristan Roberts, 7th grader. Their names were drawn from the tickets of students who sold at least 5 or more items.
Students are working hard to meet their Renaissance reading goals. Each student who meets their Accelerated Math goal, Accelerated Reader AR points goal, and AR % correct goal will be eligible to attend the field trip to the Ellen Trout Zoo on Thursday, October 8. Students have 30 minutes daily in their Renaissance class to read. Students have the opportunity to check out 3 books from the library, and they go every other week during their reading classes.
