Angelina College Theatre kicks off its 2009-2010 season with the 1995 Broadway smash, “Sylvia,” by A. R. Gurney, scheduled to run Oc. 15-17 in the Temple Theater on the Angelina College campus. All shows will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Directed by AC Theater instructor Reginald G. Peters, “Sylvia” is the tale of a romantic triangle of sorts involving a man, Greg, undergoing a mid-life crisis; his wife, Kate; and a blonde the man meets in a park – a charming, flea-bitten mutt wearing a dog tag reading “Sylvia.”

Greg’s obsession with the dog – who offers unconditional love – creates a marital rift as both females in his life vie for his affections. Naturally, the poor man is forced to choose between the two.

Cast members include Kameron Guerrero of Onalaska in the title role of Sylvia; Wes Baker of Huntington as Greg; Sasha Cruz of Crockett as Kate; Central High School student Devin Way as Tom; Alicia Mayhugh of Chireno as Phyllis; and Eric Smith of Lufkin as Leslie.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for seniors and students. Call the Temple Theater Box Office at 936-633- 5454 for tickets. For more information about the play or other Angelina College Fine Arts events, call 936-633- 5233.
