Rudolph lecture Sunday at the Museum of East Texas

In conjunction with the John James Audobon: American Artist and Naturalist exhibition at the Museum of East Texas, Dr. Craig Rudolph will be presenting a lecture at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Museum. The lecture is entitled: “The Redcockaded Woodpecker. An endangered species success story?”

Rudolph is a Research Ecologist with the U. S. Forest Service, Southern Research Station in Nacogdoches. He received a Master’s Degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a PhD. from Texas Tech University. He has conducted extensive research on the Red-cockaded Woodpecker for more than 20 years. In recent years, this research has expanded into a general research interest in the ecology of fire-maintained pine communities in the southeastern U. S. His presentation will focus on the biology of Red-cockaded Woodpeckers, the fire-maintained ecosystem they inhabit, and an overview on current management of this high profile endangered species.
