Park bridge to be closed for repairs

The bridge at the Hall Street entrance to Old Orchard Park will be closed for repairs Monday through Friday, Oct. 19-23. The project was delayed a week due to the heavy rains.

Project Grad busy week of Homecoming

Diboll Project Graduation will be selling chances at the Thursday, Oct. 22, night football game on a wooden trash can, cooler, and deer hunt with Gary Martel.

Celebrate this year’s DHS Homecoming by coming out to the bonfire. Project Graduation will be selling the following so you can have supper, support the seniors and support DHS: Hotdogs, $1; Hotdogs with homemade chili or cheese, $2; Nachos, $2; Frito pie $2; Sodas/water $1.

Eat At Applebee’s and support 2010 Project Graduation. Oct.20 is the Dining to Donate at Applebee’s. We will be passing out the flyers for that week. Project Graduation receives a percentage of all the meal-tickets sold that day (to anyone that gives the flyer to the server).

‘Lumberjack’ having a Fire Sale! Are you missing one of your high school yearbooks? The Diboll High School yearbook staff is selling yearbooks from various years for $25. Check the following list to see if one of your yearbooks is available. Contact K. Fannon at 936-829-6170 or kfannon@dibollisd. com. Quantities are limited for the following available issues: 1978-1981, 1983-1985, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1997-1999, 2001, 2002, 2004- 2006 and 2008.

Lufkin church sets festival

Angel of Joy Church in Lufkin is having a Fall Festival on Oct 17. There will be booths offering food, crafts, jewelry and even recycled items. To inquire about booth space, call Charlotte Squyres at 936-824-2653.

Schools host Fall Festival

Temple Elementary and Diboll Primary schools will hold a Fall Festival for the community from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Temple Elementary. There will be games, face-painting, karaoke, moonwalks and free food. Tickets are 20 for $1. If you would like to donate drinks or cupcakes, call the school at 829-5419.

Retired school personnel to meet

Angelina Retired Teachers/School Personnel Association will hold its next meeting Oct. 21, at Stubblefield Learning Center. Refreshments and a program presented by Roy Knight of Lufkin ISD will begin at 3 p.m. All money raised is for book donations, so don’t forget your quarters. All retired school personnel are invited to attend.

Benefit BBQ

Joe Charanza has been diagnosed with kidney cancer. He is in need of surgery and other treatments. A benefit has been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 starting at 11 a.m. at the corner of Main St. and 1669 in Huntington. There will be karaoke, BBQ plates, silent auction and raffle. Plates will be $7 for brisket and $6 for chicken. Deliveries available inside Huntington city limits with a minimum of 2 of more plates. For more information call Jill Young at 936-240-4091.

City sponsors Halloween fun

The City of Diboll and other non-profit groups are offering some safe Halloween fun with a Community Trick or from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Lottie & Arthur Temple Civic Center. There will be games, stories, a hayride and of course lots of treats for the children. Admission is free to the public.

This event is sponsored by the city, but we strongly encourage any business, community or civic organization to join the festivities and may call the Civic Center for details.

Christmas Tour of Homes set for Dec. 10

The Diboll Boys and Girls Club will host a Christmas Tour of Homes in the Diboll area from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10. Tickets are $10 per person. The club is looking for homes to be placed on the tour for that evening. If interested, call Crystal Williams at 829-4888 or Kent Havard at 820-5586 by Oct. 30.
