Club travels to Dragonfly Nursery
Kimberly Wright, center, of The Dragonfly Nursery poses with Diboll Garden Club members Betty Hendrick, left, and Karen Eddins.
Fifteen Diboll Garden Club members and one guest took advantage of a cool, crisp autumn day to travel to The Dragonfly Nursery and Garden in Nacogdoches on Nov. 17.
They were greeted by Kimberly Wright, owner of the nursery-garden, who presented a brief program about various ways to grow and show pot plants.
This facility, which is celebrating its first anniversary soon, has a variety of custom designed plants for home and commercial use. Wright illustrated clever arrangements by showing combinations which highlight products and containers. She especially stressed the use of imagination by showing a number of objects such as kettles and pipes which can be utilized for plant growth.
Following the program, the club members adjourned to Shelley’s Bakery Café for a delicious lunch followed by shopping at nearby gift stores and The Dragonfly Nursery and Garden.
Club business for the meeting centered around bringing cakes for the senior adult Christmas lunch at the civic center in Diboll and preparing baskets for the Trinity Mission residents.
Members making the trip to Nacogdoches were Garvis Baldree, Clara Breazeale, Ginger Capps, Joyce Carr, Karen Eddins, Bettye Greer, Betty Hendrick, Gloria Neal, Sandra Pouland, JoAnn Rainwater, Fran Rodriquez, Billie Robison, Kathy Sample, Gay Storch, and Dolly Whitaker. Special guest for this meeting was Carolyn McClendon.
