Junior High hoops recap

The Jr. High Lady ‘Jacks participated in the Lufkin Tournament on Nov. 21. The 7th grade team lost two hard-fought games to Central and Corrigan. For the tournament, Madison Neyland had five points, Sydney Hurley scored three points, and Darbie Parks and Ashley Coleman added two points each. Other team members include Dariela Trevino, Haley Mettlen, Liz Compian, Erika Salaiz, Brandion Taylor, and Cheyenne Swor.

The 8th grade team took home 3rd place with their victory over Corrigan. They also played a tough game against Lufkin but fell just short of victory. For the tournament, Shuntell Foster had an impressive 20 points. Lexxus Hamilton played well en route to nine points. Paige Funderburk scored six points, Reagan Hurley made a free-throw, and Chassidy Adams scored in double-figures with 12 points. Also scoring for the Lady ‘Jacks was Zariah Vinson with two points. Other team members include Hunter Mercer, Shonna Clay, and Bre Cordorva, who did a great job rebounding.

On Monday, Nov. 23. the Lady Jacks played Huntington . The 7th grade B team lost despite two points from Esmeralda Salais. Other team members include Jennifer Prado, Melina Robles, Danielle Miller, Jasmin Pitones, Amrandi Obregon, Sydney Tamez, Karina Zapata, Ashley Rodríguez, and ShaTerra Swint.

The 7th grade A team also lost. Kiara Whitfield led the way with three points while Liz Compian and Erika Salaiz scored two points each. Other team members include Madison Neyland, Sydney Hurley, Darbie Parks, Ashley Coleman Dariela Trevino, Kyla Cunnigham, Brandion Taylor, and Cheyenne Swor.

The 8th grade B team lost in a close game as well. Jayden Springs scored two points for the Lady ‘Jacks. Other team members include Elizabeth Delacruz, Rachel Martinez, Bre Cordorva, Alexis Rios, LeAnn Molina, and Alejandra Gaitan.

Huntington completed the sweep by defeating the 8th grade A team. Shuntell Foster poured in 11 points, only to be out-done by teammate Lexxus Hamilton’s 15 points. Paige Funderburk had seven points, Reagan Hurley added two points, and Chassidy Adams scored one point. Other team members include Zariah Vinson, Hunter Mercer, Shonna Clay, Bre Cordorva, and Ivy Acevedo.
