Life lesson from coal
Pastor Charles Sheppard

Ever think about a piece of coal? Now days there isn’t much thinkin’ about coal, as we don’t do much heatin’ of our homes with it any more. But y’all know there is a lesson from coal that we could all learn from.

Hey, we are all going to face pressure, it can come from family who expects us to go this way or that way. It can even come from our friends, or maybe school or work folk. And then there is always the government with “do this” or “do that.” Yep, there can be lots of pressures comin’ down the trail at us, but just like that ole chunk of coal, how we handle that pressure is really what’s important.

If that ole chunk of coal handles all that pressure right — wow, we got a diamond in the rough! But if it don’t, we end up with black dust all over everything.

Life comes with pressure, that’s part of it, but Jesus lets us know through Paul in 1 Corinthians 10:13, that, hey we are all going to face stuff. Different types of temptations, peer pressure, and just flat out pressure; however, He has made us a way to come out of it, and if we follow His way, we start looking a bit more like a diamond, and not so much like dust.

Hey folks, let’s learn somethin’ from that ole chunk of coal, and choose the right way out when we are under pressure.

This is Pastor Chuck down at 1st Assembly of God here in Diboll, and this is a thought from this ole cowboy’s tack room.
