Thoughts from the Tack Room

Proverbs says choose friends carefully
Pastor Charles Sheppard

Seems like I can remember from the time that I wasn’t much bigger ’na pup hearin’ folks say: “that one bad apple’s gonna spoil the whole barrow full of ’em.” Well folks, this is true, and it don’t near have to be jest apples neither — it covers a whole lot of things, even covers us, too.

Hey, when we start pardnerin’ up with them wild ones, it ain’t long in comin’ that some of them actions that they beena doin’ rubs off onto us real good. Same with watchin’ some of them TV shows that are on nowadays, and kids pick up them bad habits right fast. Yep, faster than a New York second, they got ’em down jest like they been a watchin’.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 12:26 “The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray.” Now that ain’t the only place the Bible talks about this either, ’cause this here is important fer us to know. Proverbs 22:24, 25, and then again in Proverbs 13:20, jest to point out a couple that say near the same thing, but in a different way. Hey y’all, God wants us to be the best that we can, and He’s been givin’ some real good advice for a long time now. Choose well!

This is Pastor Chuck down at 1st Assembly of God here in Diboll, and this is a thought from this ole cowboy’s tack room.
