Taking strides

Tiffany Mott, left, and CJ Gelvin, right, compete for the Lumberjacks at a Track and Field event held in Rusk last Thurs­day. Mott, who recently started competing in the discuss, is a defending state medalist in the shot put. She travels to Corpus Christi this weekend to take part in the state Power Lifting meet, solidifying her place as one of the best all-around girls 3A athletes in the state. Gelvin, also a member of the Lumberjack baseball team, focuses on his form as he rounds turn one in the 800m dash. Both athletes will compete in April’s Lumberjack Relays right here in Diboll.

Cole Calwell and the varsity baseball team took home second place in the Lumberjack Classic tournament they hosted over the weekend. The three day event featured 14 area teams, with games played at Pop Jordan Field and the Central ISD athletic complex.
